New concrete JV for Ballast Nedham

Netherlands-based construction company Ballast Nedam has joined forces with Microbeton to form a new joint venture, Concrete Valley, it has been announced.

The new venture, which will focus on specialised solutions in the concrete industry, consists of two companies, Waco Lingen Beton (a Ballast Nedham company) and Microbeton, which develops and manufactures lightweight ferrocement products.

Waco Lingen Beton develops and produces prefabricated concrete products for use in groundwork, road building and hydraulic engineering, including pipe drops, culverts, tunnels and noise barriers.

Hans van der Meer, head of Ballast Nedam Supplies, commented: "Combined solutions based on Microbeton's lightweight products and Concrete Waco Lingen's prefabricated concrete products create a range of promising opportunities in areas such as groundwork, road-building and hydraulic engineering, in addition to residential and utilities construction."

Pieter Nap, managing director of Microbeton, added: "Concrete Valley's facilities enable us to keep on growing. In Ballast Nedam, we have a partner who shares our ambitions. Concrete Valley will develop into an inspiring environment within which various companies can cooperate with one another. Their common goal will be to develop products and solutions that add value for our customers!"

Microbeton will transfer its operations from Krimpen aan de IJssel to Waco Lingen Beton's current site at Bergen op Zoom.

Headquartered in Nieuwegein, Ballast Nedam operates globally, supplying project, process and contract management in the development, implementation and management phases of construction and infrastructure projects.
